Ross McConnell, Chief Information Officer for Goonvean Group and Managing Director of group subsidiary Equinoxx, gave up some of his valuable time to tell us more about his work.
What’s your role at Goonvean Group?
I’ve actually been with Goonvean for about eighteen years or so, principally looking after the internal IT. In that time I’ve watched the Group evolve and grow, which has been incredibly exciting to see and I’m now MD of Equinoxx, which is part of the Group’s Developed segment.
One of our primary goals at Equinoxx is to support and manage the IT needs of Goonvean Group. However, we also develop software solutions for external clients in the commercial marketplace. It’s been a fantastic period of growth and a fascinating journey for myself and the Equinoxx team.
What’s next for Equinoxx?
We’re very much focused on the future. With the continued support and backing of Goonvean Group, alongside all the great people we work with, we’ve got an amazing opportunity to develop the business and really grow commercially. So the next few years are going to be very exciting for all of us.
What are the advantages of being part of Goonvean Group?
Operating internally within the Group, getting incredible results and then getting recognition for those results, tells us that what we’re doing makes a difference. That’s been enormously empowering.
Working with different people along the way and learning from their experiences in different industries is hugely beneficial. We’re able to apply those learnings and that knowledge to make a product that is commercially viable, and recognised by its end users as something that adds genuine value. That’s been quite an achievement. It’s something we’re very proud of and something that, as we look to the future, we will continue to build on.
