On March 31 2026, Goonvean Group welcomed some very important guests to our Engineering Centre of Excellence and Precision Casting.
Our Chairman, Lord Falmouth, was joined by David Fursdon, the Lord-Lieutenant for Devon, and Col Sir Edward Bolitho, the Lord-Lieutenant for Cornwall, along with 22 of their Deputy Lieutenants. We took the Lord-Lieutenants for a tour of our businesses and a full showcase of the Group’s capabilities across our Engineered segment.
The grand tour
Precision Casting was the first stop on the Lord-Lieutenants’ tour. Following a multi-million-pound investment, the foundry has been completely refurbished and rebuilt – making it one of the best in the UK. Precision Casting currently supplies parts to numerous UK-based industrial businesses and has big plans for future growth and expansion into new markets.
The tour then moved to the Cullompton site that also received a multi-million-pound investment. Our guests learnt about the extensive work of Goonvean Electronics, NDE Solutions, Goonvean Core Engineering, Goonvean Fibres, Dura-ID Solutions and Atwell Labellers. These businesses collectively supply a range of industries – including the automotive, marine, rail, and defence sectors – showcasing the Group’s expanding capabilities and reach.

Demonstrating the success of investment
The whole occasion highlighted the development journey Goonvean Group has undertaken with our recent investments. The Lord-Lieutenants saw firsthand where outdated facilities, infrastructure, and operational processes have been modernised. Business synergies have also been leveraged to support manufacture design and speed to market efficiency. The blending of skilled operators and automation not only meets the increasing demands of the marketplace, but clearly embodies the Group values to ‘Be the best in everything we do.’
The day was a huge success, with incredibly positive feedback from our attendees and all those involved. The Lord-Lieutenant for Devon, David Furson, said: “My team and I really enjoyed visiting Goonvean Group’s engineering and manufacturing businesses across Devon. It was fascinating to see a group of companies developing some really interesting products and working together to provide high quality engineering services and capabilities to the region.”
We had an incredible array of stands from the businesses outside of the Engineered segment too – with RH Fibreboard, Dura-ID Solutions, Goonvean Aggregates and Equinoxx all displaying their products and superb capabilities.
Well done to everyone involved in making this happen, and a huge thanks to our tour guides at Junction 28 (who had to repeat their whistle-stop tours for the staggered groups five times over!).
