Celebrating the first anniversary of the Goonvean Group ‘re-launch’

18 September 2025

By Matthew Gazzard

This autumn marks a year since the release of Goonvean Group’s new branding and website. The first anniversary of the Group’s re-launch feels like the perfect moment to reflect on everything that’s happened in that time.

A new era for Goonvean Group

The Goonvean rebrand marked an exciting, revolutionary transformation for Goonvean Group, and the new branding has been well-received both internally and externally.

Internally, the rebrand has been consistently communicated through the launch of a Goonvean Group Intranet, a bespoke, in-house system that shares stories and news across all our companies, keeping everyone up-to-date and connected.

Externally, our members and stakeholders up and down the region have started to take note of the Group’s activities and ambitions, and our focus on charity and sustainability.

Redefining our vision and values

Alongside the visual rebrand, the launch brought Goonvean’s vision to life: ‘to be the best in everything we do’. Our renewed focus on Goonvean’s impact and culture was also cemented in the creation of our values, collectively known as the ‘three C’s’:

  • Caring
  • Connected
  • Courageous

The introduction of our vision and values has seen a major shift throughout the Group, establishing an increasingly collaborative and positive mindset across all our companies – something we are very proud of.

This Group-wide team spirit was in full force at our second Goonvean Games in July. The event celebrated the incredible charity fundraising efforts that have been made across the Group during the year, and yet another brilliant result of our emphasis on community and connectivity.

Game on! Goonvean Games returned for its second year, bigger, better (and hotter!) than ever.

Improved employee benefits

The rebrand also coincided with a significant review of a range of employee salaries and benefits. We initiated a standardisation of holiday allowance, moving towards 25 days per annum, whilst also providing everyone with an additional day off to celebrate birthdays and personal celebration days.

We also give all our employees a day for social impact activities. The charitable events that our teams have been supporting helped establish our partnership with Children’s Hospice South West and The Rotherham Hospice.

With an increased focus on career development across our businesses, we launched a modern, relevant staff handbook, new employment contracts and improved induction programmes and training opportunities (including apprenticeships).

We also implemented other significant employee benefits, including:

  • The consolidated Group pension platform, NatWest Cushon, which has established itself as a credible investment facility for all our staff members.
  • An enhanced medical cash plan, Simply Health.
  • A Group-wide ‘Death in Service’ provision for all staff members – a first in the Group’s history.

Infrastructure changes in the Group

From an infrastructure perspective, we’ve seen the completion of the site development at Cullompton, creating the Engineering Centre of Excellence and a new Goonvean Group head office. This has helped establish newly acquired businesses, Goonvean Core Engineering and UK LED Lighting, alongside other key Group operations.

NDE also acquired Jades Components, who have settled comfortably into the Group and, alongside NDE, add their winding capabilities and customer base to the team. Following significant investment, we have also completed the new Precision Casting facility in Totnes, creating one of the most technically advanced and sustainable casting operations in the UK. We also welcomed Protective Solutions to the Group, who make a valuable addition to our Manufactured Segment.

We have also completed the purchase of a ‘super site’ at Thornbury. The conversion is well underway, and once completed, this state-of-the-art production facility will help the consolidation of several of our packaging businesses.

In the early part of the year, Goonvean Group said goodbye to YPH, concluding our involvement in the waste sector. YPH were acquired by an Exeter-based waste specialist, enabling them to embrace their next phase of growth.

A landmark year for Goonvean Group

Since our re-launch, we’ve seen so many stories of the fantastic achievements of all our valued staff. From new qualifications and internal promotions, to sky dives, charity hikes, and cake sales, we should all be immensely proud of what we have achieved together. The past year is a credit to every Goonvean Group staff member and highlights how we continue to excel as we strive to be the best in everything we do.

Matthew Gazzard, Managing Director, Goonvean Group, commented: “On behalf of Goonvean Group, I would like to thank everyone for their unwavering support and determination. Without your efforts, none of this would be possible. Thank you, and here’s to another year of growth, success, and well-being.”
